Art Portfolio Class: SMART Project

 For my major project i will create a collection for Spring/Summer with six outfits, where i will do two for each theme (being the heaven, the earth and the hell) being part of the main theme ''Earthly Delights".

The inspiration for my project is the painting by Bosh ("The garden of earthly delights") and try to catch my prespetive of the painting and put it on my designs. I want my collection to have a story to tell being present in a catwalk show with a incorporative performance.

I will use my sketchbook to start my work and then transfer for a digital format.

Odilon Redon

After watching the slide presentation about Odilon Redon and reflecting about my experience, I went to search more about the artist and about his life. I found it extraordinary how he works; namely with charcoal, lithography and how he represents a surreal exploration of his own deep feelings and psyche, creating metaphors for his own "ghosts".

In my perspective i can relate with his art and the symbolism he uses with the Franco-Prussian war, being the most significant European conflict between the Napoleonic Wars and the First World War, on this account, being a profound and traumatic experience reflected in his art work.

The art work i chose to show here in my blog, was the Spirit of the Forest from 1880, because it's one of my favorites and transmitting me a strong idea of mysterious but also a bizarre connection between human-plant creature causing a pleasant discomfort.

Brainstorm

 I started by choose some images on Pinterest and put it all together using the Milanote programme.

This images brainstorm will help me with my project development.

Heaven

To my heaven ideology i started by searching for aesthetic images and some fabric images that reminds me of fluity and purity.

Earth

In this brainstorm i searched for dark forest fantasy looks and put it all together.

Hell

I started this board with some aesthetic images and searching for the designer Hu Sheguang's in autumn/winter 2016 collection at China Fashion Week in Beijing.

Mind Map

I used the internet app Lucid  to create my digital mind map.

This map is based in words who remember me the Heaven, Earth and Hell and from it i can develop and search visual ideas for my project.

The Martians have landed!

The objective about this post is communicate without words about my first ideas.

I did two miniature abstract drawings for each stage explain the main points of my project.

I used pencil and ink water based pen.

My First Thoughts

 My first thoughts about Earthly Delights was to connect with one of my favorite paintings all the time by Bosch. 

The Theme Earthly Delights, being a very broad topic, i can relate with this picture and as we can see below, it's about to depict the whole of human experience from life to afterlife in three related canvases. The first on the left is meant to represent Paradise, the last on the right is hell. And in the center lies The Garden of Earthly Delights

the work was often interpreted as an admonition against carnal and worldly indulgence, being the image below the first painting was described in 1517 by the Italian chronicler Antonio de Beatis and develop by Bosch in the future.

As my continuation route is Fashion Design i will develop the three stages of this painting and explore deeply the meaning and the symbology to create a Fashion collection divided by the paradise, the earth and the hell.

 During this class, I had to do a fast self portrait and i decided to do a quick Picsart edition with an old photo of mine.

Welcome Post

 Hello,

I am beginning a new term, where in this blog i will post about my Art Portfolio and the development of my work. 

Throughout my Art and my Designs i want to achieve in this term a higher identity comprehension and put that in my Art work. I want to development my critical sense and have good improvement of my research base.

I had three weeks of University break and i decided come to Portugal see my family and friends, it was a big and complicated journey because of the days we are facing with the covid. I want to refer this experience as my inspiration because i saw that i can deal with much more things that i thought and use for my personal development as in school or professional life and face this term with more strength.

I choose this image because it gives me a feeling of calm and fluidity that it's all i want for this second term.
