Color Research
In this post, i'm going to explore the color palette that i will use on my collection in base of my research about colors.
Beginning with my research base, the painting from Bosch. Bosch painted in a style known as alla prima, a painting technique in which pigments are laid on in one application with little or no underpainting.
the Renaissance palette mirrored that of the Medieval Age but for three pigments: Naples yellow, smalt and carmine lake (cochineal). Other reds were vermilion and madder lake, which brought to Europe by crusaders in the 12th century.
The Renaissance color palette also featured realgar and among the blues azurite, ultramarine and indigo. The greens were verdigris, green earth and malachite; the yellows were Naples yellow, orpiment, and lead-tin yellow. Renaissance browns were obtained from umber. Whites were lead white, gypsum and lime white, and blacks were carbon black and bone black.

After searching about the color pigments, i went to Pantone Website and clicked in "find Pantone color"
The origin of lead-tin-yellow can be dated back to at least the thirteenth century when Type II was applied in frescos, perhaps having been discovered as a by-product of crystal glass production. Until the eighteenth century, Type I was the standard yellow used in oil painting.
is one out of the 4 types of Carmine; it is a deep red powder, made of lacquered aluminum and carminic acid, and is soluble in alkaline solutions. It is obtained by aqueous extraction of cochineal color, followed by a drying and grinding process. It provides an deep red color solution.
Copper Resinate and verdigris
A transparent jade-green glaze formed by dissolving copper salts in Venice turpentine.
Verdigris is the ur-turquoise. It is also sometimes known as “copper green” or “earth green,” since the pigment was commonly made from ground-up malachite or oxidized copper deposits.
Research: Earthly Delights
In this blog post i'm going to develop deeply the symbolism of the painting "Garden of earthly delights" to help me in my creative thinking while i am making my final project.
This painting is one of the most complex and enigmatic creations.
The three scenes were painted with a common concept of sin, as we look, starts in paradise with Adam and Eve and ends in hell. The middle panel, representing the earth with influence of medieval symbolism, give an idea of false paradise and given over to the sin of lust.
he dominant subject of the painting is fleshy pleasure.
fleeting nature of pleasure
it depicts the union of Adam and Eve on the left panel, the aforementioned bacchanal on the sprawling central panel, and a bawdy Hell on a panel to the right. Taken as a single narrative, it shows the fiery fate of humanity consumed by passion and pleasure.
The central panel is the painting’s largest and shows a pleasure garden bursting with mostly nude, beautiful young things engaging in all manner of amorous acrobatics.
Surrounding the figures we see spurting fountains, fecund fruit trees, and a vast array of creatures that allude to the pleasures and chaos to come.
“If we look closely, the only thing that connects Paradise with Hell is sin.” cited by Pilar Silva Maroto, curator at the Museo del Prado
Artist research: Alonso Murillo
For my project about Earthly Delights, i searched for a Fashion Stylist, Alonso Murillo from Mexico.

His work has always been driven by the attention for the details and telling stories through images, with the objective to communicate a message and feelings with the viewer.
I looked in Harpers Bazaar website and in the studio Atoyac69.
I am using this Photshoot as reference because i can relate my future collection with the textures and colors used in the fabrics and make up.

Art Portfolio Class: SMART Project
For my major project i will create a collection for Spring/Summer with six outfits, where i will do two for each theme (being the heaven, the earth and the hell) being part of the main theme ''Earthly Delights".
The inspiration for my project is the painting by Bosh ("The garden of earthly delights") and try to catch my prespetive of the painting and put it on my designs. I want my collection to have a story to tell being present in a catwalk show with a incorporative performance.
I will use my sketchbook to start my work and then transfer for a digital format.
